I started getting my experience at the age of 5 by riding a Honda 70 mini bike around the yard. I had to bug my dad for quite a few years but at the age of 9 he finally bought me my first racing go-kart. We got our first win that year (1997), finished third in the points, and we were hooked. The next year we got another win and finished second in points. In the following years I picked up quite a few wins and a couple season championships at Delaware Speedway. After 6 years of racing go-karts, one year of going undefeated, it was time for me to move on. I started racing hobby stock at Dubuque Speedway at the age of 16. My first year in the hobby stock division I learned what to do by experiencing what not to do. My second year started out by winning the first race at Dubuque Speedway only to miss weight by 15 lbs. The season went downhill from there and I never got another win. At the end of the season we started figuring the car out. By the third week of my third season I got my first wins at Dubuque and Farley Speedway and captured the points lead at both tracks. I continued to lead the points at Farley while being challenged at Dubuque. I won the Julian Dubuque Classic (the fair race) at Dubuque Speedway and regained the point’s lead. From there I held the point lead to the end and won the points championship, our first season championship in the hobby stock division at the Dubuque and Farley Speedway in my third year of racing. We made a big jump up to the I.M.C.A. Late Model division in 2006. It was a good learning year for all of us. We all had our ups and downs and we even managed to get a feature win at Independence Motor Speedway. We accomplished quite a bit in the 2007 season by winning the Deery Brothers Summer Series Rookie of the Year. We won one feature at Independence and finished second in the season points. I am really looking forward to the 2008 racing season. We are running a handful of Deery Brothers Summer Series races plus a full schedule at Independence, IA, along with 3 races at Dubuque, IA and 3 races at Farley, IA. It should be a fun year.
