GoDirt Racing #44

Inedependence Results:
On a nice sunny day we loaded up the car and headed to Independence for our second Deery Brothers race of the season. Once we got their, the car got unloaded and it went to get inspected. Luke drew #40 which mean he would start around the middle of his heat race. There was a total of 50 late models!! Only 24 of them were going to qualify for the freature. We were going to have our work cut out for us just to make it to the feature. We started fourth out of the ten cars in our heat race. Only the top 3 cars transfered to the feature. Luke got an awesome start when the green flag waved and was in third by the time he went into turn one. Luke held a solid third place for about five laps, then something started to go wrong. Luke slowed down and then coasted into the pits with the engine shut off. I thought we were done for the night when he didnt have the engine on. Luke lost fuel pressure so we went to work. We found that the pick-up line in the fuel cell was kinked. After trying to take all the bolts out to fix it and putting all the bolts back on, we only had time to make a few changes for the B-feature. I was still finishing putting the breather on the fuel cell when Luke was in staging. Because we didn't finish our heat race we had to start at the back of the B-feature. We started 16th out of 18 cars, and only the top three cars transferred to the feature. It was going to be a long shot for us to make the feature. When the green flag flew Luke took off to the front. In about 6 laps, after dodging about 3 spin outs, Luke was all the way up to fourth! Luke was bound and determined to make the feature after scrambling to get the car going for the B-feature and then starting 16th. On a few restarts Luke was side-by-side for third place only to be cut off and pushed down into the tires by the guy in third. This went on for 4 or 5 laps. During this time Joe Zrostlic shot by us both on the outside. We ended up not making the feature, but we had pretty good results after starting 16th. Luke gave the car all she had and was fast. We look forward to racing Saturday at Independence with more good results. We hope to see some more fans this Saturday!
